Dunard Hostel & Lodge
For all 2020 booking please phone 01871 810443 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
From 1st August we have changed the way we are running things. Dunard will be operating as a self-catered unit and no longer as a hostel. We will be able to take bookings up to 3 households as stipulated by the Scottish government.
For the foreseeable future we will be operating a 2 night minimum stay policy, if you wish to stay for just one night there would be a £15pp surcharge.
One “household” is defined as living at same address (or Scottish Government defined extended household) . We will not be able to take any bookings from people who are friends and travelling as a group if they exceed the 3 x household rule.
We reserve the right not to accept your booking if you have booked one room for more than one household.
We live in a very isloated rural community and need to ensure strict covid-19 guidelines are adhered to as this will keep both our community safe as well as yourselves.
Please take a read of the Covid -19 Visitor Charter before you arrive as well as our updated Covid-19 below.
Our location is perfect, aside from the fabulous views across the bay to the castle, and beaches and islands beyond we are also just a few minutes’ walk from the ferry terminal, tourist information office, shops, cafe, post office and bank.. not to mention the pub!
As a base for exploring we can help you get the most from your visit to the island with guidance for walking, wildlife spotting, beautiful beaches and can arrange activities such as sea kayaking and coasteering.

We have two garden camping pods (1 twin and 1 double). Kettle and microwave provided and access to a toilet and shower. The hostel living area and kitchen are not accessible for guests using the camping cabins.
We provide bedding for the hostel rooms, lodge rooms and cabins. Please bring your own towels. Towels can be rented £3 each
Planes and ferries can be disrupted by the weather and as deposits are non-refundable so we strongly recommend you take out holiday insurance to cover any cancellations.
Group Bookings, Stag and Hen Parties: If you wish to book a group of 5 or more please contact us first. Sorry we do not accept stage and hen parties in our hostel.
About our Garden Cabins: We have two small garden cabins, one is a twin cabin and the other a double (see photos in gallery). There are no facilities in the cabins except beds. When you book the cabins you have full use of all the hostel facilities which is 25 meters away. Access to the cabins involves some steps. If you want real peace and quiet then you will love the cabins. If you want easy access to all the hostel facilities then you may be better booking a twin room in the hostel itself.
Dogs: We do accept well behaved dogs. Owners must be responsible for their dog at all times. Please inform us if you intend to bring a dog. You would need to book a twin room or garden cabin only. There is a £5.00 charge for any extra cleaning.
