Dunard Hostel & Lodge
COVID-19 and how we will be running the hostel in 2021
Until we get through the COVID pandemic we have had to changed the way we are running things.
1. For the foreseeable future we will be operating a 2-night minimum stay policy, if you wish to stay for just one night there would be a £10pp surcharge. You will need to contact us to request a one-night stay
2. Unless there are changes, we will be using our bunk rooms as twin rooms. The family room will still be available for family use only.
3. All bedrooms will have their own kettle, microwave and cutlery. Both the kitchen and living room will be closed off for hostel use.
4. Each room will be allocated a bathroom.
5. Any Covid related cancallations will be refunded in full (less a booking fee).
One “household” is defined as living at same address (or Scottish Government defined extended household) .
We reserve the right not to accept your booking if it falls outside the Scottish Government gudielines
We live in a very isloated rural community and need to ensure strict covid-19 guidelines are adhered to as this will keep both our community safe as well as yourselves.
Please take a read of the Covid -19 Visitor Charter before you arrive, see below.
Our location is perfect, aside from the fabulous views across the bay to the castle, and beaches and islands beyond we are also just a few minutes’ walk from the ferry terminal, tourist information office, shops, cafe, post office and bank.. not to mention the pub!
As a base for exploring we can help you get the most from your visit to the island with guidance for walking, wildlife spotting, beautiful beaches and can arrange activities such as sea kayaking and coasteering.

About our Garden Camping Pods: We have two small garden camping pods, one twin and one double (see photos in gallery). There are no facilities in the pods except beds. When you book the pods you have full use of all the hostel facilities which is 30 meters away. Access to the pods involves some steps. If you want real peace and quiet then you will love the pods. If you want easy access to all the hostel facilities then you may be better booking a twin room in the hostel itself.
Dogs: We do accept well behaved dogs. Owners must be responsible for their dog at all times. Please inform us if you intend to bring a dog. You would need to book a twin room or garden cabin only. There is a £5.00 charge for any extra cleaning.
